Despite the great reviews, I did not pick up Borderlands 2 until this week, when it is on sale with 65% discount ($19.99 -> $6.99, valid until 04/21). Played it solo a little bit and it is pretty fun. I imagine that it can be even more fun if played co-op.

I used to play a fair amount last summer. I would be into partying up. That would be great! However I am at newb levels so playing with me would mean that it could be a bit boring for you or you'll have to carry me , depending how the game scales up the difficulties for co-op. Do Thursday evenings work for you? (I can also play on Sunday but you are probably busy during the weekend).

Most Thursdays are good, but I won't be available tonight.
I will just start a new character, so it will be fine. Scaling for multiple people works well. I have tons of money and gears I can give you, but I understand if you prefer to earn your own stuff. Either way is fine.
The game is great and pretty entertaining.

I tried borderlands 1, played it a bit, had fun, but couldn't figure out how to advance past a certain level. I suck at puzzle games.

I suck at Puzzle games as well, just don't have the patience to figure things out. However, If I understand correctly Borderlands 2 is just a shooter game, not much puzzles to solve (there are tough bosses to deal with though).

It is basically a mix of FPS with role playing game. Pretty well written story with a lot of comedy.

i have it but don't play much How about we do Borderlands 2 Thursdays? Playing solo can feel a bit lonely, partying up is going to be multiplied fun. Stone: you should get this game as well so we can play together . Best $6.99 I ever spent on video games (Actually $12, since I also spent $5 more on 2 DLCs to raise the level cap from 50 to 72). It is not a puzzle game at all, it is all about using guns to shoot bad guys on sight , and there are a lot of guns (like 3.5 millions of them).

The DLCs are excellent. In particular, I recommend Tiny Tina DLC. I also thought the Torgue one was good. Captain Scarlett is ok. Hammerlock sucks.

I am debating on story DLCs, don't want to get into a situation of buying them but having no time to play. I did see great reviews on Tiny Tina. Maybe I should get that one while the 50% sale is still going. How much content does it have (in terms of hours played)? I also have a general question regarding DLCs. Do I have to go through all missions first before I can play DLC? The reason I ask is that with the second level cap raise DLC I am supposed to get a "map" to play with as well, but I did not see it in game menu.

Technically you don't have to play any of the main story to unlock the DLC, but the content will be impossible unless you have gained an appropriate level.
There is no new map with the level cap increase.

Each DLC is probably 10+ hours of content. Maybe more. I can't remember. But worth the cost, especially at 50% off. If you have time to play, that is.
Last summer I burned out on BO2, so I played a lot of Borderlands.

Oh yeah. That. Ok, that exists. It is very short. And challenging.

Starting at level 72 you can play through this area and gain an (over powered) level for each successful play through. It gets significantly harder each time. You can do this to get to OP8, which is equivalent to level 80.
