Played a lot past weekend, now level 24 (?), about to get into mission 15: Where Angels Fear to Tread. For this week: Thursday I should be able to play all night, Wednesday maybe after 9 PST, and Sunday. In terms of hosting: We should help each other to complete the first play through (so everybody can unlock True Vault Hunter Mode - TVHM, assuming this unlock is needed for each character), by choosing whoever has the slowest progress in the story line as the host. We can then help each other to get through 2nd play through to unlock UVHM. I sounds like a good idea, I'll check my storyline progress when I get home from work and post it here. I'll be on the next coue of nights, so I'll look for you and Mal and we can host based on the above |

I am sitting at 24 right now. I can fairly quickly bring any of our characters up to an appropriate level. To do that I would just play on my level 72 character and bring the low level guys into a high level boss fight - you can gain a bunch of levels quickly that way.

I'm at 25 right now, but I have a bunch of main quests to go--been doing a lot of side quests. I'll have a lot of spare time the next few weeks as well, hopefully we can get the 3hr time difference to work out |

Can you do this between 2 characters on the same XBox account? I can only see ways to do it between 2 characters of two different accounts. I experimented with having 1 character on my main XBL account, and another on a non-gold account, that works well except that I can't play the non-gold account on XBL, only locally. At some point I may want to start a second character. I am trying to find out what's the best way to get it level up quickly, at least for the first 30 or so levels. It is great to grind through on the first character, but would be too time consuming for latter ones. The only way I can think of right now is to 1) develop the first character on my main XBL account (like to max level at 72); 2) use 1 to carry a character on a non-gold XBL account; 3) use 2 to carry other new characters on the main XBL account; #2 is a bit of wasted effort, I'll probably use the character class I am least interested in. |

Also, a related but separate noob question regarding loot: for the stuff I got at earlier levels (say legendary weapons from the first play through), they will become obsolete soon a few levels later, right? Only option is to pass them to a lower level character/friend?

Yes, to boost your own characters you need two accounts just as you described.
Regarding loot - yes, gear becomes obsolete within 5 or so levels. At that point, just pass it on to other characters. The game actually penalizes gear with diminishing returns as level increases. So level 20 gear has a damage penalty against level 25 enemies. So green gear can outperform low level legendaries.

Thanks Mal. With that I now have 2 more questions: 1) "level 20 gear has a damage penalty against level 25 enemies" - I was not aware of that. Can I still trust the numbers on the gear card? Let's say I have a level 35 weapon with base damage = 2000. You are saying that this can no longer be trusted when facing a level 41 enemy? The weapon actually does less than 2000 base damage? 2) I experimented with using 2 accounts to carry characters. I can see the character being carried on the secondary account can level up very quickly without doing anything. This is good, but I assume that the character being carried still need play through the story missions for normal play through to unlock TVHM, and entire TVHM to unlock UVHM? I don't want to play split screen all the time just for the carrying. I am hoping to only do that once in a while. Can I cheat this by having the character being carried "dropping in" right before the completion of every mission to get them marked as "completed"? |

Yes, you are correct that the numbers will basically be incorrect when used against high level enemies.
Yes, characters still must complete the main story missions to unlock TVHM and UVHM. Is still fast using the solo screen method. Just play the missions with the high level one and let the other character sit in place out of danger.

Mal, I have a question about Pimpernel: looks like everybody is saying that this is THE best sniper rifle in the game. Is it only available through DLC1? I haven't got any DLC yet because I am not sure I'll have the time to play them. But this might be a good reason to get one (another one I might get is Tiny Tina, which has great reviews). |

Yes, the Pimpernel is only in the Captain Scarlett DLC. And yes, it is the best sniper and one of the best guns in the game. We can see if I can trade one to you.

I am at level 40 and can use a break in my TVHM grind because the mission's level is higher than mine and I am fighting enemies with skulls (3 levels above my level). So looks like it is a perfect time for us to party up: I can help you get through some tough boss fights and finish normal mode. BTW, Level 31 is an exciting level to get to: you'll finally have an opportunity to respec your skill tree and unlock the last skill of a particular branch of your choice. You'll have fun with that Can you play tonight? If yes, when? I'll try to sync up my time with you. Mal: can you play tonight? |
