Quick notes regarding how Destiny class/subclass/loadout works:
1) 3 races - Human, Exo, Awoken: purely cosmetic
2) 3 classes - Warlock, Hunter, Titan. Each class has different "composite" of 3 traits: armor (Titan has the most), Recovery (Warlock has the most), and Agility (Hunter has the most). Each also their own unique vertical movements (Titan - jetpack, Warlock - glide, Hunter - double jump), melee, and grenade choices.
3) You create a character by choosing a race and a class. You can have create up to 3 characters.
4) Each class has several subclasses (2 revealed for each so far, not sure whether that's it or there are more), each subclass is defined by its "super" ability.
5) Loadout options for each subclass: grenade options, vertical movement options, melee options, and upgrades to grenades/movement/super/melee/traits. You can have multiple loadouts of each subclass, customized with different parameters.
6) Weapons & gears appear to be "orthogonal" to class/subclass/loadout setup mentioned above. They have their own sophisticated upgrade trees, and can be freely transferred among different characters you create.
7) Each character are equipped with 3 weapons at 3 slots, each with their own unique ammo;
Primary weapon slot (ammo availability: abundant): Auto Rifle, Pulse Rifle (burst fire), Scout Rifle (semi auto), Hand Cannon;
Special weapon slot (ammo availability: medium): Sniper Rifle, Shotgun, Fusion Rifle (railgun style);
Heavy weapon slot (ammo availability: rare): Heavy Machine Gun, Rocket Launcher;

I got the game but can't play much this month, as my parents are visiting the States and I will be taking them on a few trips. I should be able to play a lot next month. I pushed all my 3 characters through the tutorial mission so I can use any of them to play with friends. Currently I am focusing on Warlock, although the words on the street is that Titan Defender (the subclass unlocked at level 15) is OP |

Let's also talk about clans. For Destiny, players can set up clans on Bungie.net. A bunch of us on Den forums started one: www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Detail/135557 . We have a few cool players on XONE there, some of which Brown and I have played Titanfall with. We also have a dedicated Destiny subforum on Den's board as well: denkirson.proboards.com/board/11/destinyI was thinking about creating one for HSV1, but since we don't have a lot of players in this game yet that might be overkill. You may already know: Destiny has this end game hardcore content called "Raid" that require heavy planning and coordination of a 6 player party (can't be done through matchmaking, must be partied up ahead of time). Brown/Aroc/Mal/Saggy: what do you think? How about joining Den's Clan first, and maybe creating our own later when and if necessary? |
