Thursday Night "Steel Cage Scrims" this week.
This was an idea clan bro Bruce Banner pitched the other day, building off of some other ideas that have been tossed around for months, things we have already done.
What is the idea? Here's the jist of it. If you are in this clan, you love to compete. So the thinking was maybe a few times a month, maybe once a week for an hour or two, we set up some more formal intra-squad scrimmaging. A scrim where we get 8, 10, 12 clan guys in a private match, try to match up the two sides as fairly as we can, and then just go off on each other. Create a real ball busting intense match. It would be a private match, so there's no need to fuss or worry about KD or WL ratio bullshit. And the point isn't some ego thing, to determine who is the best or worst. We would be swapping around and changing up teams every game. Everyone play with everyone.
So why do it?
1. To get a little bit better. You do this, you WILL improve your 'game' a bit. I promise you that. And you will. You play better people, you get better. That is a stone cold truth of life if you have ever competed in anything. You practice/scrimmage with better people, you get better. And let's face reality here, running full party between clan wars, 8 out of 10 games we are facing crap ass players who aren't even really competing against us, opponents who try for 30 seconds and then go crawl in some obscure corner in the map to camp for kills. Beating down those guys 200 to 42, how is that making anyone better? It's not. One could even make the case it just makes a person sloppy, as one's poor habits and techniques never get called out. But we get six of us, facing off against six of us, you know we will be pulling out every single one of our tricks/techniques to win. You know some sloppy habit you have is going to get called out on. And we'll see each other's best moves to learn from. I'm going to see BruceBanner's "HulkSlideTechnique' he uses so well to cap B on Strikezone. I'm going to see Swain's 'SonicSwing' hammer move he uses to get chopper gunners. I am going to see Coup's deadly 'Satan'sGrenadeToss" he uses so well....and of course, they all are going to see my best shit too. ...End result? We all get better.
2. We might have fun.
We aren't talking about doing this for 20 hours or anything. Just start off maybe one evening a week, for 60 minutes, maybe 90 minutes. Play 4 to 6 games. Maybe play one map one night, like play 'Strikezone'....and then play a game of Dom, a game of SnR, a game of KC and a game of Blitz. Something like that. Then the next week, play another map.
Thoughts?
This is open to anyone. Clan guys, friends. Even any new clan guys, looking to join. This is a great way to meet people and show that you are normal functioning bro, who can talk in a mic, dont' squeak, get along with people and most of all, you can play to win. (and not fuss over your KD ratio)
