Results and Recap - Diamond CW #10. August 2nd & 3rd

Pre-War Info (posted Sat at 2pm)

Here is analysis for tonight's Diamond War #10 clan war. This might be one one of our toughest (on paper) clan war brackets yet. We have three other opponents ranked in the top 125, of the world. Out of 110,000 clans. That's nuts. These aren't crapass Bronze-Platinum clans, but clans who have can (and have) performed under pressure, in Diamond.

So that being the case, we have every reason to think that all four of of them are going to be bringing 'A' games to this war. One of them is a clan by the name of bP BulletProof, they are ranked 27th in the world with 754 diamond leaderboard points. This is clan is way up on the boards, and the early pre-war favorite to win. They have won a number of recent Clan Wars. We (HSV1) are going to be the underdogs going in. Not a huge deal though for us....we have faced off against many top 20, top 50 clans this year.....

Round 1 Recap (posted Sunday morning)

This was one crazy intense first round. HSV1 jumped on all the clans early on, getting out of the gates extremely fast. Getting the first node of the day (small Dom) and then rolling up a few other nodes. By the first hour, we had like a 70 to 16, to 14 early lead. But around 8:10pmET, we got screwed a bit. One of our squads had KC just about capped, when their opponents dash boarded. Squad 1 (aroc, jayz, angel, elitewarror, millertime & abyss hero) lost out on capping the node, their wins not counting. They had to do a new game. To make matters worse, we then got passed up a second time by another clan in what was a four clan node race. Yes, things were that competitive. We must have lost 45 minutes of game time due to this issue, and being passed up. The CW got tight.

By around 9:00pm, it was a complete clusterfuck. The scoreboard had four clan all sitting around each other, with Optical Tactics at around 75 pts, BulletProof at 72, 32ndReaper at 71, and HSV1 at 70. Shit was crazy.

We regrouped though. Props to all our bros for keeping their shit together. We stole a node right out from Optical around 9:30pm with some clutch fast wins, stealing HC KC and picking up around 30 pts or so. We passed three other clans along the way. We went in and got TDM. We then ran our 2nd squad solo at one of the Dom nodes late in the round, by itself. This squad (headed by me, Stone, with five others - Edog, legendaryShadow, DeadlyDiahereah, DannyDietz, Amazon, etc...a number of people pitched in here all night)...we silently snuck into Dom. We knocked the node to zero, and then the other squads swooped in 1 minute later (we timed this via XBoxLive chat) getting the kill. Bingo....a late game grab with like 30 seconds left on the clock. Perfectly timed!!!!

Round 1 end, before bonuses.

1. 182 pts - HSV1 .......................we ended with three nodes: KC, TDM, Dom(s) (late game Dom grab got us 24pts)
2. 116 pts - Optical Tactics.......ended with Drop Zone
3. 102 pts - 32nd Reaper Div....ended with HCTDM
4. 102 pts - bPbulletProof..........ended with Dom
5. 000 pts - Basic Gamers..........
6. 000 pts - Riot Gamers.............

SnR, HCKC were still open.

Round 2 end, with the hold bonuses applied.

1. 272 pts - HSV1 .......................+ 90 bonus pts applied (for our three nodes)
2. 132 pts - Optical Tactics.......+ 16 bonus pts
3. 132 pts - 32nd Reaper Div....+ 30 bonus pts

Round 2

.....this is tonight. Sunday evening at 7pmET. One more round. Those playing,....be ready. Shit got real! We are on the verge of a very nice upset, knocking off an elite ranked clan. It's there for the taking....IF we can hold our shit together tonight, protect the lead and followup our success.

Update...Sunday night, 11:40pmET.

We won!!! Not much more to say for now. I am tired and going to bed soon, so this is going to be kept short. Round by round scoring is in the post below if people want details. For now, it was one hell of a clan war. Heavy duty battling all night long in this final round Sunday night. bPBulletProof kept coming at us, and we kept scoring back. The end was a bit closer than it should have been, but that may have been due to us playing for bonuses at times. We gave up a little bit of ground doing so ( e.g., getting all the nodes on the map, 5 dlp bonus). We wanted to get those bonuses, and that sidetracked us a bit. But we played well in round 3. We actually scored more base points than round 1 203 to 182. That was good. And with bonuses, we kept pace with round 1 too. Our overall round score being 262, only 10 away from round 1's 273. The thing was, bpBulletProof played a very tough round 2. They put up a whopping 302 pts. So we gave up a little ground.

All in all, we should be around 97 to 110 leaderboard points for this win. And a win it was. This was a monster win for us. Epic win seeing how we got another tough draw, and this time we got the upset!

The first ever Clan War season keeps getting crazier and crazier. We are now going to be within striking distance of the top 20. That's in the entire world. Props to all those people in this clan who have stuck it out and kept on believing.

To add one more comment this Monday am.

We now anxiously wait on Wednesday evening. That's when the CoD Worldwide Clan rankings come out. We were 47th. We just knocked off the 24th ranked clan in the world. Hopefully some other clans ahead of us lose. Hopefully this win will propel us up a bit higher. Top 40? Top 30? We are moving up. The stakes are huge now. There are only TWO clan wars left. After those two wars, this is all over. There will be no redo's or 2nd tries. Beachhead/IW/Activision is ending the CoD Ghosts season and will be taking the top ranked clans and inviting them to a Super Bowl/Battle Royale type of event on Sept 21st/22nd. Basically a playoff type atmosphere where everything comes to an end, and the best clans in the world are decided on the CoD field.

We can unequivocally state this as fact now. We ARE in that mix right now, in the discussion with this SuperBowl event. Out of the 120,000 CoD clans who started this last November, we are in that top 40 mix. Think about that. I also know many of you are tired, sick of CoD, sick of Ghosts, tired of clan wars and just otherwise worn out..... but how many of you have ever had a opportunity to be ranked in the top of the world in anything? This is just a silly video game, but it's still a world ranking. Many of the top 20 clans have corporate sponsors and other advertisers. There is an opportunity here for all, and all of you, you simply don't get opportunities like this right there in front of you. If you don't care, stop reading. Those of you who do, don't stop now. You put in the time earlier this year. Lots of time. It's just two more clan wars. If you care even a little bit to get this prize, try to rally. Go seize this chance!
