Ok....get ready for some over-the-top nauseating chest beating fun!!!!
But can you blame us? We might have just had Call of Duty's largest ever clan war comeback. The comeback is real! Three days, three rounds of tough competition, that all came down to the last 10 minutes, where HSV1 was behind at the end of regulation.....but....ended up winning after the node-hold bonus multipliers were accounted for! Wow. A bonus calculation kicking in AFTER the war ended, giving us the lead back and one of the most improbable, come from behind wins in clan war history!!! That might be a bit much (it's the internet, so why not), but this comeback felt that epic.
And it wasn't just some ordinary comeback. It was a comeback against three other top 100 to 150 clans in Diamond. These were clans with or around the 500 pts in Diamond territory, not scrub clans in Bronze-Platinum level just starting out. This was top notch clans going at it, battling to the wire....and us doing what some might have said was impossible. Coming back to win after being down by over 165pts in round 1. Comeback!!!
Congratulations to everyone at HSV1 who pitched in. We had around 24 to 30 people pitch in on different levels all weekend. On-roster, off-roster, support, all levels of help. And everyone's efforts helped quite a bit. If you read the recap below, you'll see numerous forks in the road where we narrowly won key nodes, by less than a minute. Also great to see everyone never losing faith, everyone on the same page and staying with things, never losing their cool. Awesome to see this group of guys we have now pulling together. Great job everyone!
If anyone is interested in the breakdown, below is from the clan section, describing rounds 1 and 2.
Round by round recap ====================================================================================================
Friday afternoon - before round 1
We got our seeding and we given a pretty tough draw. It goes without saying we are currently ranked high on the leaderboards, so when our pool came out, we had two other top clans pooled with us, who were right next to us in the rankings. With Clan Wars, the better you do, the better your competition. But then to make it even tougher, we had a third higher ranked clan that moved up from the smaller bucket. All in all, including us, four clans that have played Diamond well enough to be ranked in the 3/10th of 1% of ALL diamond clans.
The 'lineup'
- HSV1 .............................(ranked 24th out of 3,592 clans in 13-20 bucket) - Killjoys ..........................(ranked 27th out of 3,592 clans in 13-20 bucket) - Kaos United ..................(ranked 34th out of 3,592 clans in 13-20 bucket) - Red5 NyghtBreed ......(ranked 63rd out of 14,432 clans in the 3-12 bucket) - MVPz Gaming....unknown ? - Balls n Dolls......unknown ? - F ck Mods.........unknown ?
Round 1 Action.
We came out of the gates not working on all cylinders. We had some confusion with who was playing, who was supporting roles and such. What should have been three squads playing, ended up being four squads split unevenly, with people missing or late. We didn't get off to a good start. In fact, after capturing Little Dom out of the gates, we got blindsided and allowed Kaos United to steal big Dom (30pts) right out from under us!!! Ouch. We were reeling a bit. We did hang in there though and ultimately got big Dom, as well as a few other nodes. But overall, we struggled. We were running in 3rd to 4th place most of the night, with even the 5th place clan nipping on our heels. Killjoys was running away with this clan war, blowing everyone out.
When the round was coming to an end, a key turn of events happened. Our squads stopping attacked and defended. We managed to get a HUGE defensive stop late in round 1, blocking two opponent clans from trying to steal the Dom Node we were holding. Just barely, by a sliver...we held onto Dom with seconds to go, cockblocking Kaos from catching us, and picking up the +30pts for a hold bonus. This one move might have helped us turn things around. When round 1 ended, it looked something like this after the bonus (guestimating)...after bonuses.
01. 284 pts - Killjoys 03. 142 pts - Red5 NyghtBreed 02. 119 pts - HSV1 04. 078 pts - Kaos United 05. 016 pts - MVPz Gaming 06. 000 pts - Balls n Dolls 07. 000 pts - F ck Mods
Round 2 Action.
Lots of back and forth all night, but two key things happened. One, three to four other clans ALL got mixed up in some pissing match on the TDM node, where they kept cockblocking each other. This allowed us to silently grab/steal two nodes right out from under clans who had leads on those nodes. Pretty amazing how they never saw what we were doing!
The second key event? Our late game final stand on SnR! With 30 minutes to go in round 2, we were set up with a potential possible FIVE nodes for bonus points, due to our moves all night. But Red5NyghtBreed came at us to break this up on SnR. Then Killjoys joined them. A late round battle! Our squads defending SnR (trying to win games on SnR), while two other clans fighting to break us. There was back & forth the final 30 minutes!! While we did end up losing control of the node...we did manage to slow down Red5 just barely enough, ......so they couldn't get it. The point swing was huge.. If Red5 had gotten SnR from us, they would have earned +28 for the cap, and then a +28 bonus too. Below is the scoreboard, before accounting for node-hold bonuses. 01. 356 pts - Killjoys..........................+72 pts (four nodes capped all round? they capped TDM, three others?) 02. 231 pts - HSV1 ...........................+112 pts (capped 5 nodes 2nd round; lil Dom, big Dom, Cranked, SnR, & KC) 03. 223 pts - Red5 NyghtBreed ....+81 pts (three or four nodes capped 2nd round. TDM, SnR, others?) 04. 107 pts - Kaos United ................+29 pts (one or two nodes) 05. 032 pts - MVPz Gaming...............+16 pts 06. 000 pts - Balls n Dolls 07. 000 pts - F ck Mods
Next is the scoreboard, after accounting for the node-hold bonuses. You can see just how that final stand we pulled off, was clutch by those clan guys playing SnR. Red5 did not get a single bonus hold point.
+91 pts......HSV1 (4 nodes; LilDom-14, BigDom-30, Cranked-15, KC-32) ............+91 bonus +44 pts.....Killjoys (1 node, TDM-44) + 0 pts.......Kaos United: - + 0 pts.......Red5 NyghtBreed
So while we did ultimately lose Snr in the final 90 seconds of round 2, Red5 ran out of time trying to control it. We stalled them just enough, literally by a minute or less. They were only 5 wins away, that close. While we lost a potential +28 additional bonus....we did stop Red5NyghtBreed from getting +28 cap, and +28 bonus multiplier, a total of 56 pt swing. Red5NyghtBreed could have had 279 pts, right behind us. Instead, that last stand pushed them back to 223pts. 01. 400 pts - Killjoys ...............................+116 pts 02. 321 pts - HSV1 ...................................+198 pts 03. 223 pts - Red5 NyghtBreed ...........+100 pts 04. 107 pts - Kaos United .......................+29 pts 05. 032 pts - MVPz Gaming.....................+16 pts 06. 000 pts - Balls n Dolls 07. 000 pts - F ck Mods 08. 000 pts - Federation
Please note how we outscored Killjoys by 82 pts in round 2. We are only behind by 79 right now. We play like we did last night, we can win this. TONIGHT? Due to our great round 2......we are playing for first place!!! Well done bros. Good luck everyone.

.... Round 3 Action
Let's just say this. We did it. The roller coaster ride from rounds 1 & 2 continued in round 3. The early key action was HSV1 going toe to toe with Killjoys on KC....head to head in a tough node race right away. We won the 30pts by literally only 30 seconds or less, capping it ahead of Killjoy by seconds. Key first strike to us. We next grinded out key wins on Domination, building points. But in a surprising move, Red5 NyghtBreed came roaring back. We thought they were done at 3rd (they started out 98 points behind us)...but halfway through, they cut our lead to less than 14 pts. At one point, with about an hour to go, all three clans were only separated by like 30 points. * Great call/tactical move by Witty, Saggy, Aroc, Angel and their other person, who pushed us into a late TDM move, (and not SnR)...that might have sealed the game for us. This went back and forth the whole last hour. HSV1 made a last ditch move on TDM, killjoy grabbed KC, our TDM hold was attacked, we defended,.....shit went down, frantic battling, back and forth, and the clock ended....0:00:00 time left. The scoreboard looked like this..... 01. 494 pts - Killjoys ..............................+94 pts 02. 479 pts - HSV1 .................................+158 pts 03. 417 pts - Red5 NyghtBreed ..........+194 pts 04. 107 pts - Kaos United ......................+ 0 pts 05. 032 pts - MVPz Gaming..................... 06. 000 pts - Balls n Dolls 07. 000 pts - F ck Mods 08. 000 pts - Federation BUT.....A NEW RULE in the scoring award bonus hold points AFTER round three. And during the last two hours, we positioned ourselves with the HardCore KC, lilDom and bigDom nodes....as well as the TDM node we grabbed with 23 min left (and then furiously defended it against Red5nyghtBreed tip the end).... We had four nodes. Killjoy only had one. Bonus points to us. And then this was the final score, that came in 10 minutes after the clan war... + 102 pts......HSV1 bonus points (four nodes: LilDom, BigDom, HCKC, and TDM) + 30 pts.......Killjoy bonus points (one node: Kill Confirmed) + 28 pts........Red5NyghtBreed bonus points (one node: SnR)

That is awesome, I didn't not realize there were hold bonuses after the 3rd now. Great job guys!!!
I will be interested to see where we are ranked overall now, after the last few CWs we have shot up the leaderboards quickly!

Yeah, that was a new rule put in, we knew about before the Clan War. In fact, some of the early moves we made in round 3, were done taking that 3rd round bonus multiplier in effect. For example, ...we gave up some time & points early in round 3 to go get the Dom nodes. These nodes are very slow and take a lot of time to cap. While we did this, Red5NyghtBreed (the 3rd place clan) came all the way back on us and were at one point, only 14pts behind us (all three clans were only like 40 pts apart with 90 min to go)So we gave up ground. But...we saw how the other clans didn't like Dom, and we figured that during the last two hours of round 3....those capped Dom nodes would be safe from counter-attack. We could hold them in our pocket for the bonuses.
Basically, our goal was to make all the action occur on the nodes Killjoys and Red5 liked, their nodes (TDM, KC, SnR), while leaving our nodes uncontested (HCKC, lilDom, bigDom). The squeeze play we did, forcing KillJoys and Red5 to fight each other, while leaving us alone.... It worked (essentially it was the same game plan we inadvertently stumbled upon in round 2, doing it yet again)
The last two hours, the last hour,....were especially frantic. It was tough trying to play CoD games, while also keeping an eye on the clan war map. Especially in regards to what the other top two clans were doing. With three clans all within striking distance of 1st place, it was tough to know 'who' to attack. Aroc/Witty/Saggy/Angel/ComplexDazed/others....made a good call late in the game, in going and busting up the TDM node, where Red5 and Killjoys were trading on. We snuck in, retook it, and then frantically defended it. One hand playing CoD, the other on a calculator trying to run all the various combinations of points, ....to see if we had enough to win.
And we did!
Again, this might have been one of the Clan War's biggest comebacks ever.

I would still like to know why two of our player's scores didn't count last night. In my group/squad last night, four of our six players should have been counting. But for most of the evening, we were getting this odd counting going on the app. First 1 win would register, then five to ten seconds later, a second win. But only two. In theory, there should have been FOUR wins for our squad, each time we won.
I know who was on the clan roster Friday night. It wasn't that hard to work backwards, to determine who the 'official' roster players were, whose wins were counting. Something happened there. And unfortunately, we'll probably never get any answers.
We will have to be a bit more organized with who the on-roster players are next time.

For sure. I wonder if re-adding people before the war ended effected things? I doubt it though maybe a glitch on there end who knows. Like you said we could use more organization for the next war on whos wins are counting.
To all reading: if you sign up for a clan war make sure you can actually play and show up early, so you can be one of the registered wins for the weekend. If you show up late someone will most likely fill your spot. If that happens the person who fills your spot may not show up later, which reduces the overall number of wins and participation percentage.

It shouldn't matter with adding people. Beachhead's rules state that the first people who play, up to the bucket max number.... are the people whose scores will count. They have made this very clear. I suppose the problem of adding people to soon, is that we then, can't remember who the official point-scoring people are? That was some of the problem, but I narrowed it down to all but one person for Sunday. Maybe it was just a bad break of luck with a glitch.
Anyways....
We still have confusion on that process, with people not quite understanding how it works. Not sure how to get the word out to everyone. It's tricky. If you are going for the one round KO shot, then it's best to just add whoever shows up on Friday night and attack big. But if you don't get the quick KO, you get dragged into a highly competitive 3 round war, that strategy could end up backfiring when some of those people don't play again. For example with this past CW. We had about three people who played Friday night, but who then didn't play again the rest of the weekend. What kind of stinks, is that we then had people who played BOTH sat and sun, but whose wins didn't count at all.
It's hard to explain this process. Even something as simple as the off-roster people helping. With clan wars, we need both on-roster AND off-roster people helping. Sometimes you are in an odd-number bucket, that is not perfectly divisible by six. Or if a on-roster person no shows. Again, an off-roster person is invaluable. Last night and Saturday, we had a number of people who helped off roster, and their help was incredible. General Grimm, Swain, LegendaryShadow, etc,...just to name a few (I can't remember everyone, sorry)

Looks like we have top 5% CP for sure, with a shot of top 1%.
You have to figure there were 20,048 clans on the leaderboards last week, who have scored a ranking point so far. Another 15,000 clans or so who have been shut out so far. Not sure how they do it. Is it this way?
Top 1% of 20,048 = 200 highest CP scores? Top 5% = 1,000 Top 1% of 35,000 = 350 highest CP scores? Top 5% = 1,750
Divide the above by seven. There were around 2,800 pools made for this diamond war. So in theory, 2,800 1st place finishing diamond clans.
We had 581cp.
